Love Knows No Bounds

The sun shone in her room as morning let its presence be known. Constance rolled over so that her back was facing the sun. She didn't want to get up, but she knew that today she had to. Today was the day that she would meet her new master. All this time, her grandfather and father had shown her the way of the sword. But they had been talking for some days now about her and her skills. It was finally decided that Constance would have a new master a few days ago. Taking a deep breath, she opened her purple eyes. It was time to get up. She could hear her brother teasing her in the hall.

Constance slipped out of bed and slipped her kimono on and tied the obi. It was white at the top and then gradually faded into a dark blue. She had received this one from her Aunt Yume for her birthday. She got one every year from her as did her mother. She brushed her straight hair and then put it up in a pony tail. Taking one last look at herself, she went to eat breakfast with her family. Her brother teased her as usual. Her mother served breakfast and tried to get Katsu to show up at class for once. Constance surpressed a smile. Her brother was a wild one with his own agenda. She wasn't like that. She followed the rules and strove to make her parents proud and because of that, the teasing would always be there.

After breakfast, she left with her father to go to the dojo. She gave her mother a hug and set off. As the two walked it was easy to see that she was his daughter. She looked just like him except for her hair. It was straight just like Midori's. Constance walked right beside him in silence. She didn't say a word as her thoughts began to think of who the person was who would train her. They had told her it wasn't anyone in the family. She had begged them not to, but they had said she was of age now. Her shoulders slumped some. She was barely 14. What difference did it make? Her father was one of the best swordsman next to the gods. Why couldn't she just learn from him? But it was Mitsuko-kami-sama who had suggested it and you never went against her wishes. That's what both of her grandma's had told her long ago. Constance hoped that this new teacher would be kind and patient. She didn't always learn as fast as the others. She saw the dojo now. This was the first time she didn't want to step foot in there. Her heart began to race as she stood outside.

Her father had already gone inside. She slowly slipped off her shoes, hoping that this would stall some time so that she didn't have to face this new master. Constance took a deep breath. It was now or never. She couldn't keep everyone waiting. Closing her eyes, she prayed. Mitsuko-kami-sama, give me strength to face this challenge. With that, she walked into the dojo. This place was her second home and everyone knew her. The moment she walked through the door many greeted her, including the many children that she help Mitsu-kami-sama teach. They all crowded around her to say hello. She smiled at them all, happy that they were stalling for her. But it didn't last to long as she her grandfather called her name. Now was the time to meet this teacher. She stood tall and told the children to wish her luck as she slowly made her way there. Constance tried to calm her nerves and her pounding heart as she slowly walked up. Who knows what was in store for her this morning?
