Shinsei had already sheathed his weapon- leaving his grandmother to deal with the mob. Who was he to tell a goddess what to do- besides, he was more concerned about Midori. Shinsei signed to Morgunn- asking her to please return his kimono when she had the chance. He wasn't worried about being modest at the moment- he was certain his foe was in more dire need of clothing. He hoped that the monster didn't get a chance to attack Midori before he had reacted. She seemed fine, but frozen with her hands raised- as if she was casting a spell. It didn't matter that he had stopped the threat, or hurt Masa, or lost his kimono- Shinsei was just happy that Midori was safe. He ran to her- hugging her as tightly as he could. He picked Midori off the ground- spinning her in the air. He held her close-it didn't matter what Mitsuko thought, or if Kenji hated him; this moment was Shinsei's, and he wanted to share it with but one person. He signed to Midori- asking her if he could walk her home. After all, he still needed to give her a certain gift...

The crowd continued to move forward- inching toward the unconscious man. The crowd would produce comments like-"Save us, Darvalel," or "Kill it while its sleeping." These people hadn't seen Darvalel fight in some time apparently- he didn't need cheap shots to kill opponents while they slept. He killed immortals, slayed the greatest warriors, and defeated armies with less effort than little Shinsei just expended. Darvalel destroyed that which was invincible, and had killed things that were said to be immortal- entire prophecies had been disproven or rewriten because of his battle prowess. He could've just blasted the beast- shooting the werewolf with a gout of divine energy. It would've died instantly- but Darvalel wanted to see his great-grandson in action. He moved so quick that he even took Mitsuko by surprise- no small feat. Darvalel was suddenly glad that he had laced the scabbard of Shinsei's new weapon with silver inlays- even he couldn't have foresaw that use in combat, but it sure came in handy.

"Don't insult me- this prisonner will be taken into custody to be questioned. I will determine where he will be held, and watch the safe house personally- the festival is over for tonight. Everyone return home- the festival will continue for one more day!"

The crowd cheered as they hurried to their homes. They shouted Darvalel's name in praise. He watched as his daughter tried to heft the large man by herself- Morgunn smiled at Darvalel as she dragged the stranger towards her ship. Darvalel's wife seemed thrilled with the outcome of the passing events- Mitsuko, the most beautiful woman in the realm, winked at her husband. One phrase possessed the mind of Lord Darvalel-

Damn, its good to be the king.

Zarman was quite thrilled with himself. He may have lost a bag of gold and a duel- but he was walking home with a cute girl. He walked behind his tiny captor, wrapping his hands around her waist. As he caught sight of Dragomir being dragged away, he knew he couldn't ignore his responsibilities any more- no matter how cute the girl was. The old wolf had been the closest thing Zarman had ever had to a father- he couldn't let him be dragged off to prison.

"Sorry, Yume- I need to go. My family needs me."

He darted after the woman dragging his adopted father.

Midor's body was tense as she stood there, eyes closed tightly. However her eyes snapped open as she felt her body being lifted off the ground. She was being spun. What was going on? Seeing the white hair, she knew exactly who is was and her heart leaped. It seemed to be doing flips all over the place. Her body relaxed in her arms, her cheeks matching her kimono. A giggled came out as she felt her feet touch the ground again. Her green eyes watched with sheer joy when he asked to walk her home. "Of course, I wouldn't mind at all." She was certain this was a dream. It had to be. She couldn't really be having this conversation. She couldn't really have been hugged so tightly that her head felt light. As she walked with him, every step she took felt like she was walking on clouds. Midori slipped her hand into his. She walked past her mother. "See ya at home, mom." Her voice was light and her mother only shook her head, laughing.

Yume giggled as she walked along. It had been a long time since she just been herself with a boy. Normally, her father would have intervened, but not tonight. She was enjoying the company. Flirting came naturally to her as she was her mother's daughter. She leaned against him, feeling as if she could stay in this moment. However, he let go of her abruptly and she stumbled backwards. "Ack, Zarman!" Confused by his words, she turned to see him run after her grandmother who was holding a body. "Hmm? Aww you didn't have to leave...." She pouted some as she watched his disappear. She was certain there was a story behind that, but she didn't want to persue it tonight. She looked at her bag of gold and then it hit her. She hadn't bought a present for her mother. Horror came into her heart as she knew her mother would be sad. So she went off to find her. She guessed a bag of gold would have to do. Yume vaguely remembered a story her mother told her about a bag of gold and then it turned onto mushy stuff. A smile crept to her face as she wouldn't mind having mushy stuff happen to her now if it was by a certain boy. She continued on through the streets not really paying attention to where she was going anymore.

Ayami had given Helia the lovely job of watching Aiko tonight. She wanted this one night to be special with no babies around. Helia was the only one who was happy to watch the little girl. Everyone else seemed to busy, even Mitsu. She sat in the living room, her hands on her lap, waiting. She hadn't gone to see Midori's dance. She had made a fortune with the poker table. So much so, that it took a while to get everything back to her house. Ayami had put away all of her winnings and was now waiting patiently for her husband's return. She knew he had his job to do, but she hoped that he hadn't forgotten about tonight. She bit her lips as she moved anxiously around. She supposed she should do her job while waiting. She closed her eyes and looked at all of the couples who were sharing something special tonight. But after a few, she began to miss her love. Opening her eyes, she looked to the door, hoping he would walk through any minute. But that was to much to hope for. He didn't usually use the door.

"You know that I don't like to use the door..."

The shape of Thraster emerged from a black mist that crept out of the chimney. He held out his hand, offering his gift to his wife. She seemed disappointed to seem him holding a rock.

"You weren't so upset when you gave it to me- just take a look at it before you judge"

She held the piece of stone in her hand- studying for a moment. Finally, she noticed that the rock had been cut and fitted with hinges. It opened to reveal an arcane image of their family- Thraster had asked the god of magic to enchant the stone for him.

Shinsei held very close to Midori while they walked- the night air was chilly, and he had given his kimono to the poor wretch who had attacked them earlier. He still carried his sack of presents- and there were only a few gifts left now. Shinsei figured that now was the best time to give Midori her present.

This was the present that had given Shinsei the most trouble. Though he was an expert of caligraphy- he was no shugenja. He had heard that many of the greatest shugenja use elemental fans to boost their spells. Apparently, they are hand crafted and marked with runic symbols that amplify the shugenja's connection to the kami. Usually, they are only marked for a single element- and therefore a single god. Shinsei was the combined descendant of most of the gods in their pantheon- and all of the elemental gods. He was certain he could make the best fan- and even do the markings himself if he could see them. He spoke with Lady Mitsuko, Lord Darvalel, and Lady Morgunn- and all of them had helped him learn how to draw the markings that they favored. Shinsei also consulted the shugenja from each dojo to learn the proper way to construct a conjuring fan- no small task considering Midori's family was so linked to the Phoenix dojo. It took him weeks to make the fan- and an entire week to hand paint the symbols in the correct sequence. He needed to remind her to use the fan sparingly, for the kami would only answer to her using the fan-they told him that it could only be used by the intended recipient of Shinsei's gift. When he asked the god of magic if it would work- he told Shinsei that it was the only fan he'd ever seen that could manifest all four elements. He hoped she would like it...

Ayami didn't quite understand the rock. Nor his answer when she looked at him confused. Her purple eyes looked back down to examine this special rock. A light gasp was heard as she saw her family. Tears filled her eyes as she looked up, biting her lower lip cutely. A smile soon broke as she ran towards him, embracing him warmly. "It's perfect! I couldn't have asked for anything better." She nuzzled him as she stood there, slightly hovering above the ground. It was the perfect to give her. She loved her family more then anything. And it all began with him. He was the reason she was so blissfully happy everyday. He gave her three children, each special in their own way. He was the one who had saved her from her impending doom of forever being alone. He was her better half, the rational one.

She pulled back some and her eyes were still as bright as ever. "I don't get the reason for the rock though, but I really do love it. Its all of us together. Its my family." Her cheeks flushed as she looked to the ground. "I-I hoped that I have made a good wife and mother. I really try hard and I want nothing more then to make you happy." She didn't look up him for a while, her eyes to busy looking at the image.

Midori blinked and looked at the fan. Her mother had once told her of these fans and how rare and expensive they were. Each one was one of a kind and was made for that one shugenja. Again, she felt that lump in her throat. Her heart was pounding as her hands held this beautiful work of art. He had worked so hard to get this for her. Midori remained speechless as she marveled over every little piece of it. Her green eyes absorbed everything on it. Why couldn't she say thank you at least? She tried to say something, anything! But only beginnings of words came out. She felt the sting of tears in her eyes. No one had ever done something like this. Not even her father had given her mother something like this. It was something so special. It was becoming hard to breath as she couldn't take her eyes off of it. After she placed her fingers over Mitsuko's seal for a while. She could hear the kami speak to her urging her to not leave him hanging in suspense. Her eyes widened and she lifted her hand away and snapped her head up to Shinsei who was waiting for her say anything.

"No...no one has ever done anything like this....do you know these things are super rare? Shinsei...why would you give me something like this? I-I'm not that good a shugenja. I mean...I am pretty sure that after my dance, most of the kami hate me. I am not worthy enough for such a lovely gift." But as she said that, Mitsuko's voice rang in her head that she was being silly and that she was the perfect one for this and for him. Her cheeks flushed as she supposed that the bond with the kami had already happened. A light laugh came from her. "Well, now I am hearing voices. I guess I am going crazy." She tucked the box with the fan in her bag and set it by her feet. They were right in front of her house now. "Well, its good to know that the goddess of love approves how I feel. And that's good to know because I can finally say something that I have kept to myself for far to long. Mom was right, you shouldn't hold this in." She took both of his hands and took in a deep breath only to let it out. She smiled. "I guess you probably know that the dance I did tonight was for you. I had worked on it for a few months now. I know, crazy. But you see..." Her eyes didn't stray from his as she stopped speaking for a moment, scared. It didn't last long. "I-I started to like you a while back, but...but I was to scared to say anything. We have been just friends for so long that...that I didn't want to hurt that. But the more I was with you, the more my heart began to jump all around and I couldn't stop thinking about you." Midori laughed now. "Even now, my hearts going crazy, just because you are this close. I don't think that I can ever go back to just being your friend. You mean so much more to me then that. So much more..." She trailed off as she was becoming stary eyed as she was getting lost in the depths of his eyes. It was written all over her face, she was in love.

Shinsei signed his words to Midori- telling her that he had made the fan himself, and that she was the only one who could use it. The kami had said they would only answer to one all-encompassing fan in the world- and that was the one that he crafted. He watched as Midori stiffened. Everything seemed to be happening slower now- like Shinsei was watching his own body standing and talking in the street. Midori said that the the dance was for him- and she really liked him. She had such pretty eyes...

He smiled to himself as Midori began to ramble- it was refreshing for a change to see her just as nervous as he was, but what did he need to worry about now? Kenji-sama always warned Shinsei that he had reached the point in his life where a boy began to learn about the type of man he would grow to become- Shinsei had learned a lot about himself today. He had always been a person of few words, but now he realized that he was a person of great actions. He wasn't afraid to duel a ruffian in the street if it meant doing what was right, or take on a werewolf if it attacked someone he loved- he seemed to know when the time was right to act, and that time was now.

Midori placed her hand in Shinsei's and continued to nervously speak. He held her close- and her speech began to run even faster than before. His need for modesty didn't matter right now, he doubted Midori would mind if he left his kimono with the stranger from earlier- Shinsei slipped his arms around her waist. He inhaled, revelling in the smell her hair. He exhaled sharply on Midori's ear- she stopped talking. She was still breathing- but she tried to look away from him. Shinsei placed his hand on Midori's cheek- turning her attention back to his gaze. He placed his brow on her forehead for a moment, and Midori giggled. He felt their noses bump as he leaned in closer. He placed his hand on her neck as their lips touched. Shinsei could feel how warm Midori's cheeks were as they pressed together- he felt Midori's posture relax in his arms...

Midori didn't know what to think by his actions. She had been to busy trying to get out what she had kept hidden. She hadn't expected him to act this way. Once he rested his forehead to hers, she relaxed and let out a light laugh. This was one of the many dreams that she had almost every night. Her heart was racing now, as if trying to take flight to the moon. His touch sent chills through her but she felt hot all at the same time. Was she becoming sick? No no, her mother had explained this to her. His lips were so soft and light on hers it was almost as if she was kissing a cloud. Her head was all fuzzy and she couldn't think of anything. Her face felt so warm against his and she knew she was blushing. She closed her eyes and let her tense body relax against his. After a few moments, she smiled against his lips. She felt a laugh and tried her best to hide it but she couldn't. Pulling back, she giggled, cheeks red. "Are you sure that wasn't my gift?" She covered her face as she couldn't stop smiling, or laughing.

After she had calmed down to just grinning, she hugged him tightly. "I-I am glad that you feel the same as me and I will never forget this whole day, particularly this night." She pulled back a little just so that she could see his face. "Its everything that I dreamed my first kiss would be. And...and I am happy that it was with you. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way." She glanced back at her house and sighed. "Well, I want to stay out here forever, but my parents will get worried. But expect me to be up with the sun so that I can spend every possible moment with you." She kissed him lightly and hated to break away. She gathered her bag and walked inside. Midori turned just before going inside and blew a kiss to him, giggling once again.

Yume seemed to float down the street towards her home. A bright smile on her face as she hugged the bag of gold. She noticed her brother and best friend kissing and being really close. "Ick....I don't need to see that..." She looked away, back to where she had been. "Mm, maybe...that will happen to me soon. I bet it feels nice." She giggled and went home, seeming to almost be a completely different person, not caring what her brother and best friend were doing. Her mind was set on something, or rather someone else.

Mitsuko laughed as she laid in bed. It had been a rather productive yet busy day. Her favored great grandson had found his other half. His rather chaotic sister had found someone just as crazy. Her daughter that she had been for what seemed like centuries to find someone now had. Over all, it had been a great day. She let out a sigh and looked over to watch her husband. She lifted an eyebrow. He seemed like he was up to something. "What are you up to now?" she asked, curious more then irritated. She sat up and watched him with a perplexed expression, waiting for him to tell her. If he would.

"I should be asking you the same thing- I've been watching you closely, my wife. I especially like to watch you run off to the forest in the afternoon, when nobody is around- that new weapon style that you've been working on is quite impressive. I'm sure its difficult to wield three katanas at once- but you'll never master it using one of the extras from the dojo. I know that you use your daisho, but I wonder if you wouldn't mind carrying a piece of your husband's heart with the rest of your soul."

The last few months had been most difficult- Darvalel had been busy in his forge crafting weapons for his close family and friends. He still had managed to find the time to complete the masterpiece he had made for his wife. He worked on this blade for a year- deciphering the ancient texts about how the priests of Mitsuko's homeland infused a piece of their soul into the katanas they crafted for samurai was no small task. He was still amazed that they believed that they infused the weapon with a receptacle soul that would be filled by the weapon's master. He knew that Mitsuko and he had already joined their souls , in both marriage and in their children, but now she would have a piece of her husband defending her at all times. He wondered if Mitsuko had used some of those binding techniques when she gave him his shield.

"Its called 'Okibi.' It didn't even need to be enchanted- it began spouting fire when I used binding techniques during the creation process. It should be a match for the rest of your daisho- I hope you will use it."

Darval held the weapon out for his wife to accept. The scabbard of Okibi was jet black. The grip was crafted from a deep orange wood, and bound with a bright red material. The pommel cap and tsuba were a shiny gold. When Mitsuko would unsheathe the weapon, she would find a blade made from the same bright ore that her other katanas were molded from. He had traveled to her homeland in secret and mined the metal himself- with his luck, she'd never notice...

She blushed as she looked to the sheets beneath her. Mitsuko had been training to fight with three swords in the afternoon after the young ones had gone to lunch. It took her by surprise that her husband had been spying on her. But how could she be mad when he had given her this lovely gift? She stared in awe. Another beautiful sword to add to her collection. Her blue eyes widened as she slipped the katana out of it's sheath. A work of art. A satisfied smile came to her face as she looked up at him. "I-I will treasure this always. Of course, I will take this with me. It will be like my own personal crabby man is with me at all times. I will never be as lonely when I am gone." She leaned over and kissed the top of his head.

With that she placed the katana, "Okibi", with the other two beside their bed. She jumped back and nearly tackled him off the bed. "This is the best present that you have given me. I don't know if mine will be nearly as wonderful." She got up and pulled out a red wooden box. Mitsuko set it on the bed. Inside there was a set of armor, but not just any armor. It was from the phoenix lands. The warriors from that clan had graciously crafted this armor for her. It was the armor of a Isaka. Being a kami did have its perks at times. She wiggled as she crawled on the bed as well, waiting for him to open it. Even now, she could act like a child at times, but only around him.

"Go on, open it! I know that you will love it! I thought about this for a while, because you have everything and its so hard to get you anything." Another giggled escaped her soft lips.
